Walter Buckley

Prior to co-founding Seminal Capital Partners, Walter Buckley was the co-founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Actua Corporation, previously Internet Capital Group. Prior to founding Actua, Mr. Buckley was VP of Acquisitions for Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., where he led a number of Safeguard’s investments through the mid-1990s, including Diamond Technology (public), ChromoVision (public) and Video Server. At Actua, He led a number of the early investments including VerticalNet (public), ICG Commerce, Breakaway Solutions (public), and Wisewire. Mr. Buckley was included in Business Week’s 2000 “eBiz 25,” listing of the 25 most influential people in the e-business; Price Waterhouse honored him with its “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2000, and the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group honored him with its “Entrepreneurial Excellence Award” in June 2001.

In addition to serving as Chairman of the Actua Board of Directors, Mr. Buckley is Lead Director of the GSO/FS Investment Group, and serves on the Board of the Vetri Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of the North Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative and the Board of Visitors of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
